Chicken Chaap

Chicken chaap is  a heavenly tasting dish and is very easily available in most of the fast food centers in Kolkata.  I always used to go gaga by the smell of the Chicken chaap prepared in the Mughlai fast food centre near my house in Kolkata .But poor me! I never used to have the chance of having it as in my parents house since childhood chicken, onion & garlic was not bought or used in any food . So I only had Chicken chaap maybe three or four times in childhood. Well who can stop me now :P. And since I have learned to cook it at home, it is available even in this far away land...

Prep Time: overnight
Cooking Time: 30 mins
Serving: 4

1. 800g Chicken
2.1 cup hung yogurt
3.1/2 tsp turmeric powder
4.1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
5. 3 tbsp  poppy seed paste
6. 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
5. 1/2 tsp kewra water
6. 2 drops meetha attar
7. Juice of one lime
8. 4 tbsp oil
9. Sugar
10. Salt

Marinate the chicken overnight with the mixture of yogurt, turmeric, Kashmiri chili powder, mace powder, ginger garlic paste,1tsp oil and salt.

Next day take out the marinated chicken an hour before cooking and bring it to room temperature.

Shake off the marination and shallow fry each chicken for about 5 mins. Now add the marinate and fried chicken together and cook until oil separates ,now add poppy seed paste.

Under low heat cook until oil separates completely and serve hot with Chicken Biriyani or paratha.
