Chili Prawn

When we talk about sea food Prawn is the first thing which comes to our mind...and when i talk about prawn/shrimp it always reminds me of the movie Forrest Gump and Bubba's obsession with shrimps
If you haven't watched the movie yet do watch it ;its never too late.
I generally prepare Chili prawns on weekends as the pealing of prawns generally takes some time.My husband loves the prawn chili I prepare..He loves this dish not because I prepare it, but due to the fact that it is very tasty (I myself love to have multiple tastings while preparing the dish :) ).The dish best goes with noodles or mild spicy fried rice.

Prep time : 20 mins
Cooking time : 30 mins
Serving : 3

Ingredients:
1. 15 medium prawns
2. 1 small green bell pepper
3. 1 small red bell pepper(optional)
4. 1 small onion
5. 3 tsp garlic paste
6. 1 1/2 tsp Chili paste
7. 2 - 3 spring onions
8. Few green/red chilies
8. 2 tsp dark soya sauce
9. 2 tsp vinegar
10.2 tsp tomato ketchup/chili sauce
11.1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
12.1 egg white
13.3 large tsp all purpose flour(maida)
14.2 tsp corn flour
15.3 tsp oil+ for deep frying
16.Salt as per taste

Method
Peel and devein the prawns properly. Cut the vegetables as shown in the pic.
Make a semi thick batter by mixing the maida, egg white, black pepper, 1 tsp garlic paste,2 tsp water, salt. Coat the prawn with the batter.Deep fry the prawn and remove it on a paper towel.
Prepare the sauce by adding some oil in a woke heat it on medium high flame then add onion and fry for about a minute, add bell peppers and fry for about  2 mins.
Add garlic , chili paste, stir and fry for 2 mins ,then add tomato/ chili sauce, salt and stir for about few minutes. Maintain medium high flame for the whole process.
Add the fried prawns , soya sauce, vinegar  and  stir.
In a bowl mix corn flour with some water and add the mixture, toss then add spring onions and toss . Spring onions tend to overcook quickly,so stir for not more then 1 min.

Chili prawn is ready to serve.

Note:
1.The coating of the prawns provides a texture and flavor,in case you are in a hurry you can skip this process and instead just sprinkle small amount of corn powder, few drops of soya sauce, salt and shallow fry the prawns.
2.If you don't have red bell pepper in your kitchen, you don't need to worry at all there won't be any difference in the taste.I generally use it to make the dish colourful.
